Frigorifico Astra do Paraná, or Frigoastra as it is known, is a beef industry located in the south of Brazil, State of Paraná. Since its founding, Frigoastra has stood out for the quality of its products and its commitment to excellence and sustainability.
With a processing capacity of up to 800 animals per day, Frigoastra is one of the largest beef processing industries in the country. On the top of that, the company has strict quality control that guarantees food safety and animal welfare.

According to CONAMA Resolution No. 237/1997, environmental licensing is considered an “administrative procedure by which the competent environmental agency licenses the location, installation, expansion and operation of undertakings and activities that use environmental resources, considered effectively or potentially polluting or those that, in any way, may cause environmental degradation, considering the legal and regulatory provisions and the technical standards applicable to the case.” In this case, Refrigerator Astra has, with the competent state agency, Instituto Água e Terra (IAT), the respective Operating License registered under No. 238724-R2, in force until the year 2027.
Frigoastra adopts principles and practices to reduce the use of natural resources and prevent pollution, through compliance with legislation and other environmental standards in force, mainly with regard to the disposal of water and waste, atmospheric emissions and waste disposal.
SUSTAINABLE LIVESTOCK AND
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
The quality of our meat starts in the pastures. The herds must be fed on natural pastures, quality genetics, good management and sanitary treatment are paramount for the selection of our suppliers. Care for the environment extends to areas where livestock are reared, compliance with environmental legislation applied to these areas is a requirement of utmost importance to guarantee a balance between production and nature.
At Frigorífico Astra, the operating premise of the environmental management sector seeks, in addition to understanding compliance with legal issues, to meet the principles of sustainability and promotion of a quality environment.
